We were established in 1990 and were originally named Southern Locksmiths, this later changed to Tasmanian Locksmiths after buying out Hobart Locksmithing in 2004.

    Since combining the two businesses, we have taken on some very high profile corporate and government clients. We have also helped hundreds of residential clients across Tasmania.     Staff Profiles

    Tim Frank

    Tim has been in the Locksmith industry for almost 40 years.  During that time he has developed skills in the locksmith trade including lock picking, safe opening and servicing, vehicle opening, general fitting and repairs to home and commercial locks.

    He has been SCEC endorsed for over 22 years allowing him to work on government safes and in information sensitive areas in government departments.

    Tim has also held an Open Registration cabling licence for almost 20 years.

    He is also experienced in electronic security, having spent ten years in charge of the alarm division at Jacksons Security.  In this capacity he oversaw the sales, design and installation of a number of large projects including:

    • Electronic security for the entire Port Arthur Historic site,
    • Closed Circuit TV, electrically operated gates and security at Government house,
    • Self-supporting industrial slide gates at several petroleum depots
    • Access control and security at CSIRO Forestry division
    • Dual self-supporting slide gates, pedestrian access control, Closed Circuit TV and electronic security at one of Hobart’s largest processing facilities
    • Installation and maintenance of vehicle boom gates, access control and automatic sliding doors at Hobart’s largest confectionary site

      Tim was employed originally by Jacksons as branch manager in the North West and as assistant manager in Hobart.  He was manager of the electronic security section within the Hobart store, overseeing six (6) personnel in this area.

      He is now employed as the workshop manager organising the on-road technicians, supervising in-store apprentices and the general running of the shop front, store, workshop and office.

      Ben Mackie

      Background:  Ben is currently Tasmanian Locksmith’s full-time apprentice receiving his training from the Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE [NMIT] to gain his locksmithing qualifications. In previous working lives Ben performed maintenance and roller door technician tasks. Ben looks forward to learning as much as possible regarding all aspects of locksmithing.

      Hobbies and interests:   Ben enjoys going bush shooting and gathering wood along with spending time with his family.

      Things I am knowledgeable about:  Cars

      Glenn Harding

      Background:  Glenn has over 30 years’ locksmithing experience Australia-wide and is an expert in his field.

      Hobbies and interests:  A down to earth family man Glenn enjoys tennis, bushwalking and fishing. George the goose is one of Glenn’s pet projects.

      Things I am knowledgeable about:  Historical perspectives on human conflict, particularly the Vietnam War. Science driven discussions surrounding interstellar space travel. How Carlton will once again become an AFL super power.

      Jason Burleigh

      Background:  Jason has over 30 years’ locksmithing experience and is a qualified master locksmith. Other qualifications include qualified carpenter & joiner, open level licensed cabler, alarm and access control installer and safe technician.

      Hobbies and interests:  A father of three children Jason enjoys fishing, scuba diving, jet skiing, camping, surfing and snowboarding

      Things I am knowledgeable about:  Building, Scuba Diving and Electronics.

      John Bedelph

      Background:  A competent, well‐regarded administrative and accounting professional with many years’ experience in administration, financial system operations, management and financial accounting reporting and business advisory services including bookkeeping training.

      Hobbies and interests:   Cricket and Australian Rules Football, Bushwalking, Family Activities, Housesitting around Australia, Cooking, Film and Television reviews, Qualified cricket umpire.

      Things I am knowledgeable about:  Keeping tropical fish, growing fruit and vegetables, Using new technologies

      Leighton Reinkowsky

      Background:  Leighton works full-time as a qualified locksmith with over six years’ experience. Trained at the Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE [NMIT] to gain his locksmithing qualifications his work covers all aspects of using locks and safes whilst delights in self-designing electrical engineering tasks. He enjoys a professional, hardworking and friendly work environment.

      Hobbies and interests:  Leighton looks forward to ‘mucking around’ with vehicle restorations, including mechanics and driving off-road to wind down. Bushwalking and observing the solar system provide lots of enjoyment.

      Things I am knowledgeable about:  Motor vehicle electronic keying, chemical reactions and testing, how to graft apple trees, mastering new technologies.
